Choosing Front Speakers.

Firstly if you have a fairly new car and you have just bought a CD you may not need to replace the speakers. A CD player will make them sound better and you may be happy with it. If you’re like me, you won’t be happy with the sound and updating the speakers will make a dramatic difference.
The front speakers are the most important speakers in the car, and the ones most often neglected. You are sitting up close to the front speakers, so they need to be good. 6”x 9” speakers are designed for the rear and do not work in front doors. Never install 6’’x 9’’ speakers in doors they will not produce bass! Even in a ute.
The best speakers are splits (separate woofer for the door and separate directional tweeter). This will produce the
best bass, stereo imaging and all-round sound quality lifting the sound up from the fl oor. A common misconception when buying speakers is that the “watts” is how loud the speaker is. In fact it has nothing to do with volume at all. Actually a 500W speaker is generally quieter than an 80W speaker.
Watts is the number used to describe the maximum power the speaker can handle from an amplifi er before it will fail. An average CD player produces about 50 Watts, so an 80 Watt speaker is about right. A speaker rated at 500W is designed to handle up to 500 Watts, so running of a 50W CD player won’t be very loud at all as it is designed for more power.
/////ALPINE and ROCKFORD FOSGATE have an exceptional range of splits from only $199 pair. Tweeter replacement is crucial. For best results mount the tweeters below eye level and as far forward as possible, point the left tweeter at the driver’s head and the right tweeter at the passenger’s head.

PS: /////ALPINE has just released the new 2007 TYPER splits, they are absolutely amazing and that’s about all I can say!
